Thayan Necromancer in Peltarch.

-=- A Guard. -=-

Dear Journal,

A night of duty for a cerulean knight star 2nd.

Guard came to me saying about a man, a crafter named Samson Lightwood being killed, then raised as a zombie ... it seemed murder investigation for a cerulean that i am.

With a fairly known wizard adventuress - Verika - we went to morgue and asked older person there for a corpse of Samson.

Detect Magic spell hinted Necromancy about, and Verika pointed to back of his neck - where black onyx, so called necromancer's gemstone - was placed.

... i've removed it and we went to Cerulean HQ to skry for more information.

The large skrying mirror was pulled and put in place, my scarf on floor before it ... three candles and incense alight ... and a water-full silver chalice in front of a mirror as well.

... i've cast Eagle's Splendour spell, then Clairaudience/Clairvoyance and entered skrying trance.

Image appeared of an middle-aged man, dressed in expensive-looking Red Robes of Thayan Wizards, with magical bracers on his wrists, with bald & tattooed head ... it seemed he was relatively high ranking member of Necromancers, those who serve Zulkir Szass Tam.

He was 'working' on another corpse at the moment ... relatively young girl, with no apparent cause of death.

He was in a small room, with very large table ... behind him trapped doors. On one end of the table a throne, on other end - another throne, with an urn and magical skull floating above the urn.

By girl's looks seemed she was Narfell's native, so whole 'affair' was perhaps very close.

Mage turned the girl around, put onyx in back of her neck and started animating her ... then my skrying spell's duration ended.

Then we went to Ashald's Park where zombie was found and put to rest.

... it seems that Martin the Gardener keeps coming to work there by night, working secretly - as city offices does not want to pay for extra hours.

... he said that he saw zombie coming and screamed for guards.

... guards came and chopped undead with their halberds.

Martin said prayer to Selune and when i positively responded - he offered to go for a drink someday.

... told him that someday we can ... he was enthusiastic at that.

Leaving Ashald's Park i've cast detect magic spell again, followed traces of necromantic energies ... that led us to a house.

... inside the house it was as in skrying vision, large table, red wizard.

... a battle of spells ensued, we won against Red Wizard without having casaulties on our side.

Where this leads, Dear Journal?

... is it an act of war from Thayan Red Wizards?

... is it Casus Belli, a Cause for War?

... i'll write report for the Cerulean Offices tomorrow, and paint the Red Wizard as i did remember him from vision.

-- Chea Allin, Cerulean Star 2nd.

Mummy Lord in Peltarch's Crypts (Amyliomendur's Tale).

Following rumours of something stirring in Peltarch's Crypts, a few of us went down there - passing through Peltarch's Morgue.

We found Mummies rising from death, led by the Mummy Lord.

Unprepared at first, we suffered from Mummies' disease and curses, and were heavily wounded.

We did retreat and our casters prepared Anti-Mummy spells.

Mummy Lord was defeated with Abby's Searing Light spell - probably empowered too.

We found treasures on him, then continued to destroy rest of Crypt's Undead.

As of my share of treasures, i got the Masterwork Diamond Ring - slightly magical on it's own, and well-enchantable too.

-- Amyliomendur Nain, an Adventuring Weaponmaster Initiate.

P.S. Recovering from Curse and Disease cost me 180 gp total at Selune's Temple Lighthouse in Peltarch.

West of Peltarch (Anheim's Tale).

Gather.

West of Peltarch is full of threats to the city.

Alliance with Giants is void since a while as well.

Group of adventurers assembled in commons to fight these, we went against Orcs with their Worgs, then against Giants & Manticores.

Worgs & Orcs i did engage in melee, Giants & Manticores i dared not - handled them with my crossbow.

Beside lessening their numbers, beside lessening threat to Peltarch, it was a good training opportunity for me & others.

Lucky Ferret, an Inn in Peltarch (Frances' Tale).

Claire, a Bartrender.

It is that there's 'Lucky Ferret Inn' in the Peltarch's Docks area. Black Sails, a guild of pirates owns this inn in Peltarch, as well as a place in Oscura.

'Lucky Ferret' has backrooms, entrance to these costs 25 gold pieces. These backrooms have prostitutes, gambling hall, 'special goods shop' as well as the 'fighting pit' in which occasional fighting contests and bets are made.

Bought a three of 'Static Arrows' quivers today, 99 arrows each. These arrows are fairly cheap for me, and are enchanted with electricity that discharges after hitting the target. i still won't use them against lesser foes, not worth.

Peltarch's Sewers (Frances' Tale).

Peltarch Sewers' Entrance.

As rumours claim, there are cultists & undead in Peltarch's sewers.

Perhaps there are riches as well.

Went down there, fought few of cultists & undead indeed.

... then one certain Vicious Ghoul attacked me with it's cold hand.

i was running to stairs, to another part of sewers ... Ghoul did knock me down, but didn't follow as i fell.

Turned back & returned to it's sewers' parts.

On way back my damned curiosity made me check one door ...

... it was closed, so Summoned Shadow Mastiff tore at it with it's teeth.

... i didn't let it finish, preferring doors closed.

... did return to Inn breathless, yet fairly untouched by dead.

... no riches found, but at least alive.

Told at Peltarch's Commons (Frances' Tale).

A couple.

i've witnessed a couple sharing news at Peltarch's Commons.

Man, Akseli ... told his friend a romantic tale about a Man & Woman unseparable even by death.

There was a caravan visiting Norwick ... With a Man named Rick, a Woman called Elisabeth & her father.

When undead attacked Norwick, both Elisabeth & her father were slain by them.

Rick managed to escape death, then every midnight after that ghost of Elisabeth would rise up in the ruins.

The ghost communicated with a woman called Nica, wanting to see Rick one last time.

Rick was in poor, miserable condition, drinking his life away at the Grapevine inn.

When he was taken to meet the Elisabeth, lovers needed no words, none of them fell ...

They embraced in a kiss - and after a bright glow, they entered the afterlife, together ...

Away from Peltarch.

Leaving.

Dear Journal,

i've left Peltarch.

Peltarch's Tournament Grounds.

Kobolds' junk Sale.

Dear Journal,

with Nade we went to kobolds' swamps & cave again.

we've defeated many weaker & few of more dangerous kobolds.

Nade went away as usual, and i've sold the spoils.

at Mermaid i couldn't meditate so well, something distracted me.

went to Peltarch's Tournament Grounds for a walk.

remembered times when i've participated both as spectator & contestant.

then back to inn, perhaps will be able to meditate & rest later.

Adventurers in Peltarch Commons.

Chea, Gnarl & Nailo.

Dear Journal,

in commons i've met Gnarl and 'Fallen Ranger', Nailo.

talked a while with Gnarl about Forsworn where he's 'First Knight'.

it's a group of friends with ideas of 'Protecting Weak, Justice, and Tolerance', more or less.

then the woman with axe, Shallyah, came bragging about her battle skills and that she was 'threatening enough' when she faced few Beholders & Balor Demon.

had to tell that it's not very noble & sane to threaten others, according to many.

there were others who came as well, but Nailo left.

we also talked about 'Shade', Zhentarim Leader who came to Narfell hunt Nica & others, perhaps for other reasons too.

Nica is Lycka Zomasdottir's & Aelthas Benthur's daughter.

Lycka is current leader of Cerulean Knights.

Aelthas Benthur is leader at Temple Lighthouse, the Selunite, known Werewolf.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, a Selunite.

Peltarch Senate's Spelly Drama.

a Drama.

Dear Journal,

i've heard about commotion that affects whole of Peltarch & more...

'The commons were host to a rowdy commotion last night. What began as an argument in the afternoon concerning the abuse of magic came to a crescendo with accusations of corruption and injustice, counter accusations of dishonesty, and with threats of physical violence.

Senator Maria was arrested and taken to the prison after nearly incinerating a Legion soldier.'

Rainy Autumn in Peltarch.

Rainy Autumn in Peltarch. photo peltarch_rainy_autumn_zps1ac7165b.png

Dear Journal,

Today she met 'once Senator', madam Marthoushca Leaffall who was reministcent of their past.

A beginning of the N'Jast War, Senator Marty was abducted, only to be returned years later after such, with lost memory and no diary.

Marty lost her position in a city, but still cares, even if prays to Tyr, god of Justice, ever so often.

Now however ex-senator had something different on mind, it's that glacier is advance, a sign of Auril's return.

Jerrick Rayfe, famous druid that she didn't have contact with for long (she's not her love, dear Journal, but she likes him) still controls nature and it's balance somehow.

Senator Marty suspects. That if 'Auril', godess of Winter, returns - servants will come with.

Perhaps warming after the N'Jast War will be temporary? Marty's words suggest that cold climate in Narfell will happen someday again, but we can prepare and delay.

It's well known that N'Jast War ended when adventuring team found something on Icelace's island, an apparatus that changed flow of energy of this land, ripped and changed reality, that caused terrain rifts emerge. To the point of even getting rid of the famous Sam's Hill, where half-orc paladin Samson S. defended for days against Red Dragon Rass that didn't come. But perhaps later did anyway, she is not sure anymore. Now its 'Sam's Hole' to most.

Seeing ongoing destruction, and having been blasted by Old Narfell artifact that caused demons to emerge, N'Jast Army retreated to their land. This is how she remembers these days anyway.

Leftover of such was warm climate, painful memories, feeling of freedom (more or less delusional), and homeless, poverty, starvation, disease.

Peltarch was rebuilt, removed cobble and grass sown, to get rid of a fungus coming from under cobble.

....

We'll still fight Auril servants if they arrive, she suspects.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, cerulean star 1st.

P.S. She has chest of coal she collected in small doses during swamp patrols somewhere. She thinks it's good idea to give such to homeless of Peltarch's Docks. Will do so at nearest opportunity, for winter is coming. Coal and wood is hard to get for poor and unarmed.
