White Dragon, Giantspires & Coldstones.

Dear Journal,

White Dragon seems to be connected to Rasuil Delagim, a known adventurer.

While at least Rasuil claims that Dragon is not hostile, at least few of others do doubt it.

White Dragon appeared in Giantspire Mountains next to Peltarch, where Orcs & Giants live and ordered "new Spellweaver" Mage by name Maria to perform ritual on body of an orc, which perhaps was foreseen by vision of a Cerulean 3rd Star, Jonni Aelthasson.

Report i read (written by Inquisitor Damien Meynolt) says: 'The spell caused a strange blizzard like wind movement that headed South East from the location, which I theorize was headed for the Coldstones'.

Coldstone Mountains area of Jiyyd & Ormpur was covered in snow, and full of undead & other monsters, some of such usually not found there.

It seems that for an experienced and well-equipped fighting adventuring group they are not a match.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, Cerulean star 1st.

Captain-General Del'Rosa's Announcement.

Dear Journal,

Conveying Rumours & Emotions of Peltarch:

---

'Del'Rosa returns to the city after succesful initial assault on the gnolls.

"Citizens of Peltarch. Last night, a small taskforce consisting of the leaders of Peltarch Defenders, the Cerulean Knights, the Troff Legion, Shesae en' i'Seldarine, Spellweaver Keep and the Frost Giants of Coldstone Mountains took over the Gypsy Towers at the Nars Pass.

This is a pre-emptive strike done in self defence - the gnolls were planning an attack on our fair city. Indeed, they already attacked one of our ships.

We have tolerated their banditry on the roads for too long. NO MORE!

We will drive the gnolls back to their damp caves!

In the name of Peltarch, I declare a war on gnolls. May it be short but liberating. Long live the Jewel!

The blonde general lifts his fist up in the air, inspiring the crowd into cheers.'

---

LONG LIVE THE JEWEL! AND DEATH TO HER ENEMIES!

---

-- Yours, Chea Allin, Cerulean Star 1st.

Difference between a guise and disguise.

Dear Journal,

What's the difference between meanings of words 'a guise' and 'disguise' ?

i have such intuition and unconfirmed insight that they differ subtly.

'a guise' is artistic, uncovered, uncorrupted and spiritual, and is often used in a play with words such as 'a guise of Illusion'.

'disguise' is more material, plain, distingushed, recognized, perhaps not so pure.... often used in combination with words 'under disguise of his clothes'.

Perhaps there's more of meanings and differencies, perhaps much more.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, an insightful witch.

Necromancy on the Beach.

Dear Journal,

Cerulean reports mention something about 'necromancy on the beach' and about white dragon wandering under a guise of Illusion in our City, in Peltarch.

i think i should investigate.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, Cerulean star 1st.

Report Arrived.

Dear Journal,

Gnoll Recon report has arrived at our Cerulean HQ.

'Cerulean Chea has reported activities of the gnolls organizing themselves, and patroling areas more to the north than usual. A huge gnoll is yapping orders at them.'

-- Yours, Chea Allin, Cerulean Star 1st.

Gnoll Recon.

An invisible scout, part 1.

Dear Journal,

i've been scouting gnolls invisibly as per Cerulean orders.

i've been able to see that they come from woods near Oscura.

i've been able to find a prominent one referred by others as 'Burka' more or less, perhaps a leader.

i've been able to steal this leader's tuft of hair for scrying more or less - was dextrous enough to do it unnoticed with my invisibility spell, and other spells.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, Cerulean Star 1st.

P.S. a little later i've been able to scry upon Gnoll Leader using stolen hair, tarot deck, and a Clairaudience / Clairvoyance spell. At safety of our modest Cerulean HQ... then wrote a report.

Passing a Lightboat.

Dear Journal,

i went to Oscura again.

On my way to Shiny Coppers, a place where a visitor can meet Oscurans of higher and lower social ranks, i've passed a boat lit by candles.

Inside Shiny Coppers, Jario, bartrender, wore something of a black & silver, very similar to Attentus' old attire, with red cap and forearms added to this fashion.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, a witch.

Kobold Cave (Frances' Tale).

Frances by the Kobold Warrens on Eastern Swamp.

i've dared to peek inside Kobolds' Cave, rumored to contain kobold warriors, of a more seasoned warrior type than those usually spotted outside.

... and their casters.

i didn't meet any, this time ...

... thankfully.

-- Frances, exploring witch of a Noble origin.

Drink of Fire (Frances' Tale).

Drink of Fire.

i've bought drinks of Fire, in Kossuth's name.

if i drink it, it will center on me.

one can survive such with 'Elemental Protections', spells perhaps.

-- Frances Darkhaven, Kossuthian, a Witch.

Meditating, Spells (Frances' Tale).

Frances, after meditation.

According to many, preparing spells requires meditation.

According to many, meditation is more than that.

Unarmored (Frances' Tale).

Frances fighting Kobolds, Unarmored.

i've been fighting unarmored, with sword & spells.

that way spells don't fail in combat.

this works against lesser opponents such as weaker types of kobolds, in this land.

but even such as i can contribute to a team somehow, sometimes... but not greatly, it seems.

-- Frances, a Noble Flame.

P.S. Unarmored Combat has it's uses - not everywhere armour & weapons are welcomed well. it's rare to be useful, perhaps as an escort to people against smaller of threats.

Horror, Terror.

Dear Journal,

what is Horror?

what is Terror?

how to Protect Loved Ones, Friends, Allies from such?

i've been using Phantasmal Killer Spell which invokes Horror on Monsters' Mind, without knowing much about this... This is not very responsible.

one has to understand theory, master practice, to purify, to protect.

it's a Mind-Affecting spell.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, Mage - Ninja.

Whitefire Chant.

White Light & Flaming Staff at Night.

Dear Journal,

with current rumours about about daemons & vampyres around, one has to resume practice of 'Whitefire Chant', a short Spell-Ritual.

one has been playing with Words in form of a Spell-Chant, with Magical Flames, with Selune's White-Light.

then a Night fell upon the City of Peltarch, a Jewel of the Icelace.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, Illusionist dabbling with anti-darkness Abjuration magic.

P.S. Spell-Chant Wording part of the Magical Formula is being practiced... for now one has:

* 'for this is not Selune's Way to use Necromancy, Demonology... like that.'
* 'fiery chant of white flames'.

Dear Journal,

i wasn't on duty this time - which could be seen by my clothing.

i've met Alvaniel, elven female.

i've noticed that she's alone in Commons, despite people in Commons and near.

Skirmishes, Traps & Retreats (Chea's Night - Dream).

Orc & Ogres, part of a skirmish.

Dear Journal,

yet another astral excursion into the Undermountain.

this time it was skirmish with orcs with ogres. one of them noxious, emiting a green gas that this one did avoid succesfully.

this one suspects it to be not only skirmish this one participated in, and will participate in.

after that skirmish this one was low on most useful of spells, had to retreat to 'Yawning Portal'.

this one observed as the protections waned with time (had reserve still), and how last of protections, 'Improved Invisibility' faded just after the 'Yawning Portal' Inn was reached.

really many secret doors, really many traps, all revealed with True Sight. still a challenge if this one has to run from monsters.

there's rumour that Undermountain is ever-shifting too... walls being rearranged with time, as well as new monsters reappearing from other parts of Faerun. Mad Mage Halaster's 'work'.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, follower of Enlightened Energies & Astral Witch.

P.S. there's a rat near Undermountain's entrance. probably a spy. i don't know whose.

To Kill an Ogre (Chea's Night - Dream).

Dear Journal,

this one went to Waterdeep again, astrally.

Durnan noticed that Halaster might be up to something, if he's gone... have to find him.

as for taking sides, this one decided to kill an Ogre.

this one went North, where Ogre Mage is dwelling in his plot to kill Fey Queen.

this one avoided chests and other traps, dispatched Troll and two Drow Marksmen on the way. Most useful spells were: 'Improved Invisibility', 'Find Traps', 'Mordenkainen's Sword' and protections.

if this one can defeat that Ogre Mage without stealing resources, this one gladly will.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, follower of Enlightened Energies and an Astral Witch.

Monday, 9 June 2014

Sharwyn (Chea's Night - Dream).

Dear Journal,

instead of sleeping this one has entered a state of meditation, to reach the City of Waterdeep astrally.

this happened somehow, this one will describe it now.

Sharwyn seemed much better, clean and nice, recovered from wound at least somehow. She cares for morale at Inn by entertaining, as she put it 'people are a bit frightened'.

Sharwyn fights terror, this one noticed.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, follower of Enlightened Energies & Astral Witch.

Scouting & Rescuing (Chea's Night - Dream).

Dear Journal,

Another dream, another steps.

Rescued goblin, and bard by name 'Sharwyn'.

Avoided combat and walking into traps, obvious & hidden with aid of invisibility & true sight.

Noticed Drow Elf, didn't go near... perhaps he or she had a way of noticing unseen.

Noticed Fey fighting Troll or Ogre & Harpies.

Heard something about Ogre & Fey... need to ask people questions now, to choose side in this conflict well, to not betray.

i've returned to Yawning Portal in my dream.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, a dreamer.

Mordenkainen's Sword (Chea's Night - Dream).

Skeleton Trap avoided & defeated.

Dear Journal,

i've dreamed again... a little further into this nightmare under the Waterdeep.

as i walked around toward first gate, without rushing, keeping cautious distance... a skeleton was conjured so i've replied with Mordenkainen's Sword spell... a new power granted to me by gods, one of many. then went invisible and waited for a skeleton warrior to be defeated.

it did succeed.

spells seem to have darker side, the more powerful the more visible. but can be used to combat stupidity and evil that is their origin.

'Shadow Shield' spell can be used to combat Shar's Necromancy, and more.

'True Sight' is useful, but requires Loving Eyes to pass many challenges.

'Mordenkainen's Sword' calls out something that many call a horror, but i prefer 'Mordenkainen's Sword' name for it. it has to be used carefully to not be a terror.

'Improved Invisibility' has similar dangers, people fear unseen and unknown, to mention few possible problems associated with Arcane Magics misuses...

i'll prepare to pass via this gate and go through invisible if i can, for i won't risk Nade's life like that.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, a dreamer.

Undermountain (Chea's Night - Dream).

Chea's Night - Dream.

An entry chamber to the Undermountain, under the 'Yawning Portal Inn' in the City of Waterdeep.

Dear Journal,

i have dreams when i sleep, recurring ones.

perhaps imagination, perhaps a future, perhaps something else...

in my dreams, i went to Waterdeep to help the City defend against Drow Elven invasion originating from the Undermountain and the Underdark below, perhaps.

Mad Mage Halaster is supposed to be gone, and his minions started to rebel, perhaps.

perhaps Drow Elves seize opportunity of the chaos in the Undermountain to have their raiding parties reach the surface without risking deaths on the way.

there are much greater powers involved in this conflict than usually in Narfell, from what i know. much greater powers, magic items, traps and such...

i do not know anyone there, i only read about Durnan - ex-Adventurer, owner of the Yawning Portal, few things about Drow: Dark Elves of Menzoberranzan and of other parts, and some rumours too... Attentus was raised near Waterdeep afterall.

there are many more details, perhaps i'll share later to You, dear Journal.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, a dreamer.

Bad Weather (Frances' Tale).

i've visited eastern swamps, eastern to Peltarch, relatively.

infested by kobolds & rats.

i've fought them with sword & shield, a longbow, with spells.

weather was terrible, it seems this was the cause of a flame weapon spell failing.

i've checked the flame weapon spell after i've rested and meditated at Mermaid, still working.

it didn't seem like a 'wild magic' or 'dead magic' zone.

dead magic is often part of jails in these lands, a mention.

-- Frances, inner flame of noble origin.

Extraplanar Wound.

Dear Journal,

on my exploration / recon trip toward Ormpur past Jiyyd, i was attacked by a Gibberling near Sam's Hole guarded by a Dwarven Keep.

a small creature from Far Realm, a place of madness beyond the known planes.

it looked similar to a large rat or even a small wererat.

it ran toward me, attacked, wounded, then ran away in fear - i didn't die from such an attack, for i did cast simple protection spells before venturing out.

i went to temple of Kelemvor in a hurry, to heal that wound.

Attentus had terrible experience with wounds of extraplanar origin afterall.

perhaps i'll be fine...

i'll report this to HQ.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, Cerulean star 1st.

Martial Training.

Wolves and goblins killed by Chea, with a flaming staff in melee combat.

Dear Journal,

can i kill a wolf or other lesser opponent in melee?

yes, i can. Snarling wolf with ease, but a Ghost Wolf - not at all.

i've just completed Martial Training exercise near Misty Pond area, near Howling Woods.

Exercise proved that i can kill lesser opponents in melee, with aid of spells. like a Cerulean Knights' member should.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, cerulean star 1st.

Resting after fight at Grapevine Inn.

Entrances.

Under Oscura, a Lizards' Cave near entry.

Dear Journal,

i've gone under and near Oscura but not so deep.

to kill few of the Lizards, too rich to survive.

Oscura entrances and fascinates me again.

many died in these caves before, mostly to their priestesses and mages.

they go deep into the Underdark, full of monsters and dangers.

i passed this time, alone can't go far without dying.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, a witch.

P.S. later i've sold heavy junk that i found on lizard bodies. spell energy lasted only for three of these. i've kept moderate curative potion i've found as well. then meditated at Coppers to regain spells.

Oscura's Entrance.

Wound not Diseased (Whatson's Fiddle).

Dear Fiddlebag,

wound is diseased not, i think.

i was wounded several times during my short human life so far.

no too great hallucinations, no burns or festers around the wounds.

if neccessary i'll go to a Temple of Chauntea that is not far from Norwick's Grapevine Inn, perhaps they will cast proper spell if i pay.

.. sometimes they do it for free even, i heard.

there's a risk of them casting the spell wrong way however, they say.

-- Yours, Whatson Fiddle, a bard wannabe.

Eric the Lumberjack (Whatson's Fiddle).

Norwick's rather Large Lumbermill.

Dear Fiddlebag,

i've exchanged news with Eric the Lumberjack of the Norwick's Lumber Mill.

nothing unusual, but perhaps trade increased... gate was wide open as if they expected an expedition.

i do not know much about their business with the Norwick's Crafters Union, nor i do care about it.

Throwing Axes or a Bow (Whatson's Fiddle).

Dear Fiddlebag,

should i get few or more of the throwing axes? they are heavy to carry but efficient and cheap, as i heard.

Barbarians of Old used both throwing axes, longbows and many other hunting weapons.

perhaps nothing at all, i am just a bard, not a Barbarian.

... only if neccessary.

-- Yours, Whatson Fiddle, longing for music & wine.

Wolves slain (Whatson's Fiddle).

Wolves slain, a small pack.

Dear Fiddlebag,

i can ax a wolf, it seems.

i went to hunt one to a few goblins, as a real man should in these lands.

i've found much greater danger of not numerous a wolves' pack, survived badly wounded.

"i've killed two wolves,
bad wolves of yore,
hit'em wit' an ax'
wolves are no more"

perhaps i'll be able to sing this song, if i recover from this wound (hope it's not diseased).

-- Yours, Whatson Fiddle, a misadventurous a wolves' slayer.

P.S. i've been able to hit alpha wolf with a particularly strong hit second time i had opportunity to get close to him at a proper angle. large wolf's skull properly split wit' an ax. first blow was rather strong, but far from enough to get rid of that quite a wolf.

P.S.S. i do not know how i got rid or defended against smaller wolf, it was very weak i think for it's size and type, or perhaps just unlucky. still a flanking nuisance, it had a chance to finish me after i got rid of alpha wolf pal of his.

P.S.S.S. overall wolves fought defensively after their initial charge, they attacked slowly, walked around to attack from two sides and barked menacingly waiting for a weak move to jump and attack with teeth and paws. i've outsmarted them, wit' footwork, shield, an' ax. had to consider them both as i fought.

----
*it wasn't easy fight. if not mage armour cast prior to combat, proper clicking (avoiding riposte attacks), and a good roll of a critical hit at alpha wolf, Whatson would be sightseeing mists of the Fugue Plane. Computer was slow too.

Crumbling Docks of Oscura.

Crumbling Docks of Oscura.

Dear Journal,

i've visited Oscura again, this time by underground riverboat.

Walked around Crumbling Docks, nothing strange this time, in this odd Underground Cavern place.

Jiyyd.

Dear Journal,

Jiyyd is a place that was once a farming town to northeast of Norwick, not very far from it.

After N'Jast War it is reduced to the haunted ruins.

Wolves, Undead, Scavenger Bandits, and other similar folk, undead and animals.

Since months, after a pack of blink dogs appeared there, there was nothing special in this unwelcoming but usually not the most deadly part of the Narfell.

Recently, 'the weather near Ormpur seems to be getting colder, even though summer is approaching. Snowing is not uncommon, though it should not happen during summer', they say.

Ormpur lies past Jiyyd.

Ormpur is undead infested ruins located in the very dangerous Ormpur Woods, full of dire animals, perhaps undead or ill.

Ormpur is another important site on the 'Map of Old Narfell'. Dangers and rarely magical treasures, that usually bring only a trouble.

-- Yours, Chea Allin, loremonger and scribe.
