Rat Hole (Amyliomendur's Tale).

... i was returning from a hunt in kobolds & lizards swamp, when i met a new-adventurer mage.

Gave him a few of tips of how to survive in narfell, then a commoner noticed us chatting.

Commoner asked if we'll deal with his rats-in-basement problem, asked if we are mercenaries for hire.

We agreed, he showed us a way to his house and led to basement.

It was dark place with many rats that we killed ... then one particularly large, magically tough, dire rat was left.

After a fight the dire rat retreated into a hole in basement's ground.

... 'tis was a large hole, we squeezed in and found ourselves on a ramp, sliding down until we landed in underground cave.

Looking for exit, we fought bats, then met a goblin sitting by the desk.

After a short talk he went to 'inform master' about us, but we stopped him.

Two short slices of my longsword get rid of him - one gash across chest, second cut lopped his head.

Found some scrolls, that my mage-adventurer companion took as his own.

Continuing past doors there was a double-bridge where a lot of small goblins tried to swarm us. Thankfully as a part of my weapon master training i learned 'whirlwind attack', a method of dealing with swarms of lesser foes.

On the other side of a bridge there was a barrier of light and a woman behind it.

She kept asking questions, i've talked with her to give my companion time as he worked to dispell the barrier.

Finally barrier went down - and i've rushed to kill her.

She cast 'magic missle' spell and my friend was left on floor, bleeding, dying.

... i've kept fighting her, even after she told: 'your friend is dying'.

... finally she fell, and i've rushed to help my companion. Sin berries mended him in the healthy shape.

We found a chest and exit.

My part of the loot was a magickal longsword and 1100 gold pieces.

After leaving these caverns we looked for a commoner who hired us - when we did find him, we've explained what we found, and gave advice to contact peltarch guard.

He gave us 200 gp each and some food for what we did.
