... what derived from, a word 'Compassion' is ?

is it from a 'Common Passion', a 'Shared Feeling', as an 'Empathy', perhaps ?

... i think so at least.

is there a 'Comthought'? a word derived from a 'Common Thought', a 'Shared Thought', related to 'Telepathy', perhaps ?

... i think not.

but there's a 'Comforting Thought', a common term of sharing thoughts with someone to secure feelings, as a 'Fort' or 'Fortress' does.

i like our musings about words.
