there are potions, there are balms.
potions are used by drinking, it takes a very small amount of time for someone acquainted to strange tastes.
balms are applied to body parts, take a longer while ... even if they sink through clothing.
i do not remember seeing any other balm than healing one, while potions can have many effects, not only healing.
both potions & balms are affected by wild magic & null magic zones, if i am not wrong - that's where mundane herbs & healing kits come useful.
i admit i know a little about treating wounds with bandages & herbs, but am not to be compared with Expert Healers as for example Elena Arguyle-Nightsbrooke can be.

(EN) balms are targetted - can be used on someone else. Potions affect character that uses them. they can be given but it takes a while, practically can't be done in midst of battle.
