It is said that for new to be born, grow, and live - old must die.
In nature there are cycles ... growth of one population can lead to dying of another. Classic example is wolves and hares.
This is but one example, there are many other interactions between populations - both beneficial for ecosystem and harmful.
Sometimes certain animals are in excess number, and need to be hunted to reduce their population size.
We rangers often are protection and strong arms of druids ... and druids are our spiritual teachers, authorities and leaders.
Druids observe all aspects of nature - animal populations, health of animals, plants and trees ... weather patterns, forest fires, famine, disease, presence of undead or harmful outsiders from other planes ... and other disasters, too many too mention here - or even remember or know by someone like me.
It is druids who tell rangers what and when to hunt - and how much.
Druids also stress to not waste any part of killed animals. Mostly it's meat, fur, and bones.
There are exceptions of course. Not every druid is a leader, not every ranger is follower. There are also friends in druidic groves - both humans, humanoids and forest dwellers - not only animals, also dryads, nymphs and many others.
... so i live under druidic guidance, sleep in their groves or in deep woods ... unless there's something to do among civilized people.
... usually it's trade or warnings, occasionally also fighting with or against townspeople.

Meager Spoils of the Rawlinswood (Isendir's Tale).

After Hunt.
... after buying some equipment, my coinpurse was too light.
Went goblin-hunt, occasional wolves posed a little threat as well.
They have low quality equipment that sells for a small amount of coin, occasinally gold pieces or gems as well - i'll turn these to money in Peltarch - at Hemrod's - when convenient.
The food found on goblins looks suspicious, especially 'mystery meat' - i prefer to sell instead of eating.
A small amount of apples however, i keep.
In peltarch there is more of equipment to be bought - i am especially interrested in Dark Cloak & Chameleon Rings for sneaking, as well as in an Elven Bow.

Crypt in Rawlins (Cirden's Tale).

Possessed Swine.
i've returned wounded, then healed myself with Fenmarel's Blessings to not worry townsfolk with wounds.
one never knows when this spell comes useful, when we notice someone dying in need - so it's best to conserve until emergency, but not always it's so simple.
i have little food but preferred to not hunt Deer being so tainted by undeads' corrupt energies.

Goblin Activities in Rawlinswood (Anheim's Tale).

Goblin Corpse, un-animated by Anheim's 'Ray of Frost' spell.
During free, after work on Leviathon (Cray's Ship), i've been going to Rawlinswoods to practice combat methods, including attempts at 'defensive expertise', but also other armed & unarmed tricks.
Noticed increased activities in and near Howling Woods.
Goblin corpse, animated by necromantic spell probably.
Two unusual goblin warriors... one armed with fists & stink bomb, other with a bow.
Dispatched them, then soon after left to Oscura to focus on my work for cpt. Cray Vincint.
After many failures, did some progress in Fighting Ways... We'll see how they are or aren't useful in a team later.

Commotion past Norwick's South Gate (Anheim's Tale).

Commotion.
on my way to Rawlinswoods, i've seen few adventurers casting spells at Ranger known as Rasuil Delagim.
their names are: Nica Aelthasdottir, Elaine Xixia Rayfe, Salin Ashald, and one unknown to me.
didn't know what's going on, went to hunt goblins.
nearly died killing few weakest of them, then retreated to recover from wounds.

Exploring Rawlinswoods (Lomy's Tale).

Lomy & Deer.
Dear Journal,
I've dared to explore safest parts of the Rawlinswoods again.
Entertaining Deer seemed pointless enough, so I reduced myself to scouting & killing few of goblins & wolves.
Donned my studded leather for that, and went fairly quietly this time, for I had no energy for healing or any other songs left.
Got wounded by wolf, retreated.
Then met a 'hin trader of Goblin goods, hiding his face under a helmet', by name of 'Ukka Tweeweaf'.
Sold him a raggy goblin doll that I found curiously on a goblin body, then bought a small shield... Not very protective, but light enough to not hinder my poor attempts at sneaking in woods too much. As if anything could, I have to add.
I'll have to rest for a while and recover from wounds.
-- 'Lomy', spent bard, therefore a quieter ranger.

Lomy & Ukka, probably a Goblin Ninja.
Second Trip into Rawlins (Lomy's Tale).

A wolf killed.
Dear Journal,
Seems that locals are very untrusting of those such as me.
Went to hunt goblins, instead of angering the locals too much.
Killed the two of the Goblinhood, probably those that beat me nearly yesterday... after recovering succesfully thanks to healing songs & rest at the Inn.
They were anticipating a fight in an ambush.
Killed them both. Killed them with my bow - of short type, with a sinister curse & other songs.
Sinister song does not make beings scared, just weak as they fight, or outside a fight... in many ways.
Also inspires those on our side to fight better, so it's used best in a group fights.
... then hunted for a while more, managed to kill a few more, of goblins & wolves... then retreated, wounded again.
Went a little deeper into the Rawlinswood this time, 'where wolves howl'.
-- 'Lomy', a ranger untrusted, a sinister singer.
